EN Webinar: All-Electric versus Gas – Comparing Costs for New Residential Construction
October 11, 2021 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm PDT
Join the Electrify Coalition as we kick off Electrification Week – a week devoted to Electrifying Everything.
Electrification Week is presented in partnership with Sustainable Building Week – a yearly event promoting sustainable building practices.
In this free webinar we will be hearing from researchers who studied the differences between building new residential homes in the Pacific Northwest with modern all-electric solutions versus mixed fuel construction that relies on gas for cooking and heating. We’ll do a deep dive on how much builders and homeowners can expect to save in construction costs by choosing wires over (gas) pipes and how operational costs compare. We will look at the emissions created from each construction method to highlight the emissions savings potential of all-electric homes.
- What are the key technologies that make an all-electric home possible?
- Why is it lower cost to build all-electric?
- What are the operational costs for all-electric versus mixed fuel?
- What about multi-family construction?
- Do all-electric homes create fewer carbon emissions?
If you cannot attend the live webinar, please register anyway and we will send a link to the recording with the presentation materials after the event.
Panelists:
Jonny Kocher – Associate, Rocky Mountain Institute – Jonny Kocher is an Associate with RMI’s Carbon-Free Buildings Program, where he supports city and state efforts to promote building electrification in the Western United States. Jonny began his career as an Environmental Engineer for the City & County of San Francisco (CCSF) working to test wastewater effluent to ensure NPDES permit compliance at San Francisco International Airport (SFO). While working at SFO, he helped launch their energy efficiency program with a focus on zero net energy buildings.
Donations: Please consider making a donation for this webinar to the Electrify Everyone Fund. All proceeds from your donations go towards installing free heat pump water heaters in low income homes through the nonprofit Community Energy Project. Your donation will help reduce carbon emissions and lower utility bills for these families. Thank you!
