Webinar: The Road to 2030 – Building Electrification in BC

December 8, 2021 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am PST

The Road to 2030 – Building Electrification in BC

In British Columbia, building electrification is recognized by all levels of government as a critical strategy to decarbonize the building sector due to an abundant supply of clean, renewable electricity. Given the mature state of high-efficiency, electric technologies, the transition to electrification of most building space and water heating applications is a natural step.

This FREE event will feature highlights from Clean BC’s Roadmap to 2030 and BC Hydro’s Electrification Plan, and you’ll also hear about what else is happening in BC through B2E .

Host

Mariko Michasiw is the B2E Program Manager at ZEBx. Mariko is a sustainability and energy professional with nearly a decade of experience making municipal buildings more energy-efficient and reducing their operational greenhouse gas emissions. Through her work as a Certified Energy Manager, she planned and managed capital projects and developed a keen understanding of the real-life challenges and opportunities related to building electrification in the commercial and residential sectors. In her current role at ZEBx, Mariko manages the programming of Canada’s first building electrification coalition called B2E. Since its launch in September 2021, many high-profile BC-based and national organizations have joined B2E and represent a broad cross-section of stakeholder groups.

What is B2E?

B2E is a new BC-based member-driven coalition working towards electrifying space heating and domestic hot water systems in BC, in pursuit of a province-wide shift to low-carbon buildings. Its purpose is to create opportunities for stakeholders to work collaboratively to identify and address barriers to electrification and take actions that contribute to a meaningful market shift to low carbon building electrification. B2E is a key initiative identified in the Building Electrification Road Map (BERM) and is supported by ZEBx.
